The world celebrates foolishness on the first day of April every year with practical jokes. News headlines do play a part in trying to “fool” people but all in good humour. Here are some of political one-liners which are perfect for the April Fools’ Day in 2015.

Bill Shorten’s Onion Campaign

“Tony Abbott has cut more than $50 billion from Australian hospitals, threatened a new GP Tax and slashed funding for preventative health initiatives.” This was how Opposition Leader Bill Shorten had his laugh on the April Fools’ Day. Shorten posted this on Facebook to amuse more than 85,000 followers of his page.

Shorten also wrote that Labor would launch a new preventative health campaign: “An Onion A Day Keeps the Doctor Away.” The idea was to help Australia's health system cope with Abbott’s plans, he wrote.

NSW Government Sells Off Playground

NSW Premier Mike Baird said that he would sell off playgrounds. Children don’t play in playgrounds any more, he argued. Koala Safe, an internet safety service provider for children, “leaked” the secret. It is argued that children should be playing “Minecraft” instead of going outdoors.

Auction For Tony Abbott’s Unwashed Swimwear

Groupon Australia announced the auction of a number of “preloved celebrity items” which included Abbott’s “used and unwashed” red budgie smugglers. The product description says that it has been retrieved from the men’s change rooms at Abbott’s local Surf Life Saving Club at Queenscliff. The product is licensed for auction, the website adds.

Australia In Northern Hemisphere By 2055

Google Maps claimes that its Sydney engineers have discovered a shift in Australia’s geographic position. They have said that the earth’s equator is slipping south at the rate of 25 km every year. As a result, Australia is going to be in the Northern Hemisphere by 2055. “Movements in the equator are caused by changes in the Earth’s tilt called Milankovitch cycles,” a Google post says.

David Cameron’s Kim Kardashian Connection

British Prime Minister David Cameron has said that he is related to Kim Kardashian. According to Cameron, he is 13th cousins with Kim. The common link between the two could be Sir William Spencer born in 1555. However, there are possibilities that it is the British way of celebrating the April Fools’ Day.
