'Vampire Diaries' Season 6, Episode 7 Recap/Spoilers: Elena Tries To Remember Relationship With Damon, Stefan Finds Out About Caroline’s Feelings
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 7 titled "Do You Remember the First Time?" focuses on the character pairings of the CW TV series. The main focus of the latest episode is really on the Damon-Elena or "Delena" relationship where Elena (Nina Dobrev) tries to remember her relationship with Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, episode 7 titled "Do You Remember the First Time?"
After seeing Damon for the first time, Elena admits that she only remembers pain from the awful things that Damon did to the people she cares about. Hurt and upset, Damon heads to the Whitmore Medical Center to take out his frustration on Alaric (Matt Davis) because he is no longer an enhanced Original vampire that can make Elena remember who Damon Salvatore is.
Jo (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) invites Alaric to be her date at the hospital's fundraiser event. Damon invited himself in order to see Elena but he was stunned to see that his girlfriend is now dating Liam (Marco James).
At the event, Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Liv (Penelope Mitchell) continue to grow closer to each other after the witch made a huge sacrifice of killing the guy that Tyler hit at the corn maze so his werewolf curse will not be triggered. Damon finally meets Liam, then compels Elena's new boyfriend to get drinks from the bar and asks Elena to dance with him in an attempt to make her remember that she loves him.
Meanwhile, Enzo (Michael Malarkey), Matt (Zach Roerig) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) captured Tripp (Colin Ferguson) and the Augustine vampire wants to know the vampire hunter's plan as well as his associates because he does not appear to be a one-man-vampire-busting-operation.
Tripp reveals that his other connections are also tracking vampires like Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola). Stefan warns Caroline about Tripp. Caroline initially shut off Stefan's warning and offer for help but a phone call from her mom, Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre), changed her mind because the men that took the sheriff wants Tripp back or Caroline's mom will be dead.
Stefan told Enzo that he has two hours to torture Tripp for information and then he can kill the vampire hunter. Caroline is now in a rush to get to Enzo first before he kills Tripp.
While taking off the chains on Tripp, Enzo realizes why Caroline behaves differently with Stefan particularly with the hate attitude she exudes. "She hates you because she doesn't hate you at all. She's got a thing for you mate," Enzo revealed.
Caroline decides to put that topic aside and focus first on their mission of saving her mom. At the Mystic Falls border, Tripp's connection agreed to hand over the sheriff if Stefan gives them Tripp back.
The trade was successful until Tripp crossed the border and started to bleed. The vampire hunter died in front of Matt and Stefan realized that Enzo turned Tripp into a vampire.
Back in 1994, Bonnie (Kat Graham) wakes up still wounded with Kai (Chris Wood) telling her that they have a couple of hours left to fix the Ascendant before the eclipse happens. The psychopathic witch is still determined to go home.
Bonnie stabs Kai on the neck and escapes with the Ascendant. Bonnie heads to a medical center to treat her wound and repair the broken Ascendant so she could go home alone.
However, Kai shows up with the missing piece from the Ascendant and forces Bonnie to work on the spell and the key so they could go back home. At the tunnel, Kai gives Bonnie her bear, Cuddles, as something to bring back home.
Bonnie does the spell again to go back home but nothing happened and the eclipse already passed. Kai gets upset as Bonnie reveals that her magic is gone and she placed it somewhere safe. Then, Kai gets angry when he finds out that Bonnie placed her magic on her bear and Cuddles is gone. "I guess we're stuck here, forever," Bonnie tells Kai.
Caroline brings her mom to a hospital to get her head wound checked. Sheriff Forbes notices that her daughter is icing Stefan out. When Stefan asked if she could help in fixing that, the sheriff responded that she is not allowed.
Stefan wants Caroline to talk to him how and why she has a thing for him. Caroline responds that maybe it is because she thought Stefan is worth having a thing for. Then, the Salvatore vampire apologized for the mistakes he did and Caroline accepted even though she still hates Stefan. "If I don't hate you for ruining our friendship, then I have to hate myself for ruining it. And I think I deserve better than that," Caroline told Stefan before walking away.
Damon's attempts to make Elena remember him did not work. Even though Damon recounted the times he and Elena spent together, Elena still feels like she is looking at a stranger. Then, Elena decided to cross the Mystic Falls border so her memories would come back but Damon pulled her back before she ends up dead.
Elena admitted that she remembered bits and pieces when it comes to knowing Damon. When Elena asked what happened when it started to rain while they were watching the stars, Damon was supposed to say that they kissed but he lied and said that they went home. Damon finally decided to let Elena go because he loves her and he wants her to be happy.
Liam showed up at Elena's dorm room to tell Elena that he conducted a research on the girl that she miraculously saved. It looks like Liam is not going to let what happened go away easily because he warned Elena that she should tell him the truth or he will find out himself.
Jo heads back home with Alaric after attending the party. While changing her clothes, Alaric noticed that Jo has a scar. Jo revealed to Alaric that her brother tried to gut her out with a knife when she was younger. Alaric also found out that evening that the reason why Jo does not have witch powers is because she does not practice anymore and her magic is kept somewhere safe.
The ending scene showed Damon drinking Bourbon on his way to the Salvatore crypt as he deals with the pain of letting Elena go. However, Damon was stopped short when he saw Cuddles, Bonnie's bear, sitting nearby the gate. "You're still alive," Damon stated while hugging the bear.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 will return with episode 8 titled "Fade Into You" on Thursday night, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
