The world's tallest man and also the shortest are shot at a special function that marks the Guinness World Record (GWR) Day. They may be two men who live at the extremities, with a height difference of seven feet, yet they became tall friends during the shoot, and have agreed to meet often, according to RT News.

The 31-year-old giant Sultan Kösen is 8 ft 3in or 2.5m tall---the world's tallest since 2009. His newest friend is now the world's shortest---Chandra Dangi, 75, who is only one foot 7 inches, or .4 metres tall. On Thursday, they met for the first time at St Thomas' Hospital in central London for a photo-shoot to mark the 60th anniversary of the Guinness Book of World Records. Kösen said he and Dangi had a good time with each other, and wanted that they should become "really good friends" and pursue more activities together, according to rtnews.com.

Kosen is a part-time farmer who became the world's tallest living man in 2009, overshooting China's Xi Shun who is 7 feet 9 inches. Dangi, a weaver, who also looks after buffaloes and cows in his remote mountain village of Reemkholi, 450 kms from Nepal's capital Kathmandu, is the shortest adult human verified by Guinness World Records, according to CNN.

Kosen said that he was inviting Chandra to Turkey and hopes that he would visit. Also having "loved London," he added that it was amazing to meet Chandra at last after so many years.Although their heights are different, he said that both shared their struggles, and when he looked into his eyes, he could see that he was "a good man." Kösen also has the largest hands of any living person. Each hand is 11.22 inches or measures 28.5 cms from the tip of the finger to the wrist. He also wears size 25 shoes, while his small friend, Chandra, wears size 2 shoes.

Chandra said that he was "very happy" over his global fame. "Everyone knows about me being the smallest man," he said, proud that he was representing Nepal globally. He was also "extremely humbled" by the support he got. Among his five brothers, three were less than four feet tall, while two sisters and two brothers were of average height, according to Daily Mail.

Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief, Craig Glenday, pointed out that that GWR Day brings together global people with similar likes and dislikes. "Whether they're penguins, arrow catchers, basketball players, tall or short, we celebrate the uniqueness of individuals around the globe and invite anyone to participate in the international day of record breaking," he said. There were 600,000 Guinness World Records aspirants from across the world who participated in GWR Day, 2014. Other record attempts included the farthest basketball shot backwards and the maximum number of breakfast eaters in bed.
