Korean-based firm Samsung recently revealed their newest smartphone in the market called the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 and the Galaxy Mini 2. Samsung revealed this new smartphone model during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012.

Both smartphones are considered as the sequels for the Galaxy Ace and Galaxy Mini hence the number "2" in the smartphone names. Some experts consider these models as the "middle-range" products from Samsung because the specifications for these smartphones are not that cutting-edge if compared to the Galaxy S phones. Even though that is the case, it still offers a great deal for people who are not that interested in purchasing powerful smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2

The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 weighs around 122 grams and has dimensions of 18.3 x 62.2 x 10.5 mm. As for its display, it has 3.8-inch Super PLS technology and resolution of 800x480 pixel PLS. This smartphone also has a dual-core 800 MHz processor with 768MB or RAM. Internal storage size is up to 4GB and it has expendable storage through microSD (up to 32GB). It has 2 cameras, one found in the rear area with 5MP autofocus, LED flash, and 720p video capture features. The other camera is located at the front for video calling with 2MP. Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 also contains the usual standard features of a smartphone like HSPA+ 14.4 Mbps networks, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC (optional), Bluetooth version 3.0 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0 versions. In terms of OS, it comes pre-installed with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but it can be upgraded to Android 4.0 or Android ICS as soon as it is available.

Samsung Galaxy Mini 2

The Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 has a height of 4.31 inches, width of 2.31 inches, and thickness of 0.47 inches. It weighs around 0.24 oz. It also has a display size of 3.27 inches with 480x320 display, processor of 800 MHz, storage space of 4GB with expendable storage of 32GB with microSD, rear camera with 3MP, and RAM size of 512MB. This smartphone also has the usual connectivity features like 3G connectivity, GSM, Wi-Fi 802.11n, 802.11g, 802.11b, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, and NFC support. As for its OS, it is also pre-installed with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but it can be upgraded to Android ICS once the update is already available.

So far, no official announcement has been made in terms of the availability of these smartphones in the Australian market. Samsung just confirmed that the Samsung Ace 2 will be available in the UK market on April while the Samsung Mini 2 will be available in France by March.
