Apple finally released an official invitation to the press regarding the much-anticipated launch of their newest iPad dubbed as iPad 3 on March 7.

The official invitation sent out to the press including reporters and bloggers was described as "mysterious" due to the message included in the invitation. This is what the invitation states: "We have something you really have to see. And touch." This mysterious statement got everyone guessing about the details that will be unveiled on March 7. Rumors about the supposed specifications of Apple's iPad 3 have been circulating in the web and so far, Apple has not released any denial or confirmation addressing these rumors.

Here are some of the rumors about Apple's iPad 3 that could possibly materialize during the release event:

Improved Display and Performance

There are rumors speculating that iPad 3 will utilize a "Retina" display or it would have a double screen resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. Aside from the improved screen display, there are also speculations stating that it would be able to utilize 4G LTE connectivity. If this feature would be actualized, Apple's iPad 3 would end up being thicker if compared to iPad 2. As for its processor, it is rumored to have a quad-core A6 processor or dual-core A5x which means a speedier performance if compared to iPad 2.

Disappearance of Home Button

This is a new rumor courtesy of the official invitation sent out by Apple. The invitation shows an image of Apple's iPad but there is no home button visible in the iPad's bezel. Another "leaked" image shows otherwise as the front glass panel was captured and it shows the round home button in place.

Siri in iPad 3

Siri, one of the most popular feature of iPhone 4S would supposedly make its debut in iPad 3. This rumor came about from Apple.pro, a Chinese blog which speculates that Siri would be included as one of the features of iPad 3. This rumor is not that popular as opposed to the technical specification of iPad 3 but there is a possibility that Siri would say "hello" in iPad 3.

Apple will be hosting the event which will be held in Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. This venue has hosted several Apple events in the past years particularly the unveiling of the original iPad and iPad 2. This will be the first time that Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple will not host an iPad launch. Steve Jobs died last October due to pancreatic cancer.
