Things have not been the same for Fernando Torres since he left Liverpool about three and a half years ago. His influence at the subsequent clubs has diminished with alarming rate and his guaranteed staring place for his national team is a thing of the past. Now, it seems that he could be getting a reprieve with two of his previous clubs Atletico Madrid and Liverpool, for whom he was outstanding, finding hard to land strikers with world class quality.

The parting of ways between Liverpool and Torres, in hind sight, was much more successful for the club than the player. Liverpool replaced him with another goal prolific goal scorer in Luis Suarez. Now with Luis Suarez gone to Barcelona, Liverpool are again having a very tough time. Daniel Sturridge's long term injury has not helped the club one bit and the gamble with Mario Balotelli has not worked to say the least. With Fernando Torres not working for either Chelsea or AC Milan, where he has been loaned to, a natural fit would be for both of them to reunite.

After selling Diego Costa to Chelsea, Athletico Madrid are also looking for a striker of the highest pedigree and Fernando Torres would fit this description. He has been with their youth team from 1995 and would be relishing a return to his roots should the Liverpool deal fall through. Liverpool would be offering a much better compensation but Atletico Madrid would provide him the opportunity to finish his career where it all started, a karmic cycle of sorts.

With the team in doldrums the American owners are looking to replace the manager Brendan Rodgers with the current United States of America's national coach Jurgen Klinsmann. He has been very good since taking over the national side in 2011 and his presence will no doubt lure other world class players to Anfield. Klinsmann has previously been linked to Liverpool as well. Klinsmann had enjoyed two successful spells in England with Tottenham Hotspurs as a player.
