A backpack with the word "Bang" found inside a Los Angeles subway train prompted authorities to close the train station for more than two hours on Tuesday night.

A bomb squad later found no explosive inside the backpack found inside the Red Line train in Union Station at 4:50 p.m. A separate report by LA Weekly said the backpack was safely detonated on the train track so its content could no longer be determined.

The name Bang, which aroused suspicion from Union Station security guard who inspected the train after passengers have disembarked, apparently refers to the nickname of the backpack's owner.

"It had the name 'Bang' on it. That made deputies suspicious," Lt. Vince Carter told the Los Angeles Times.

Los Angeles police evacuated part of the station while the bomb squad examined the bag. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority transported rush-hour passengers by buses.

The train service resumed before 8 p.m.
