In the recent past, many low-end and mid-range Lumia handsets were released such as the Lumia 730, the Lumia 830 and the Lumia 535, but very soon Microsoft will be releasing high-end Lumia handset with powerful specs. TaoBao, a Chinese auction website has uploaded a protype image of the Lumia smartphone which appears very similar to Lumia 1020 with sleek aluminum body and raised camera housing.

Geek On Gadegets claims that the Lumia McLaren listed on the Chinese action site carries a device name "Nokia RM-1052". The prototype image includes rear view of a handset with aluminum body along with texts that reads as "Property of Microsoft Mobile" and "Not for Sale". Also, the source reveals that the Microsoft Lumia McLaren specifications include 5-inch full HD display, Windows Phone 8.1 OS, 32 GB of internal storage space, a quad-core processor along with 2 GB of RAM.

Undoubtedly, the USP of the Lumia 1020 is the 41 MP rear camera powered with PureView technology. Apart from raised camera module, no other details of the camera of the Microsoft Lumia McLaren are known. PhoneArena highlights that Microsoft was rumoured to roll out a handset named McLaren in the month of July this year but the plans to release the device were cancelled. It was expected to come housed with "3D Touch" technology, a feature that would bring support for Kinect-like motion gestures to Windows Phone. The Verge states that the on-screen buttons on the device would support off-screen gestures that would allow users to use the device without touching the display.

Geek On Gadgets claims that the rumoured McLaren device that has resurfaced could be a fake mainly because through one of the prototype images it does not seem that it would support on-screen buttons but rather it would feature capacitive keys. Another reason that indicates that it may not be a real handset is that the camera lens that comes with glass covering appears to be smaller in size as compared to the one present on Lumia 1020 that is covered with black plastic. The Nokia Lumia 1020 came with Xenon flash. However, the prototype image shows that an LED flash.
