A trade sending Andrei Kirilenko to the Philadelphia 76ers from the Brooklyn Nets has been finalised on Thursday. The 76ers will receive the veteran forward plus third string point guard Jorge Guttierez, a 2020 second-round pick and the rights to swap second-rounders in the 2018 NBA Draft while the Nets will get forward Brandon Davies.

Brooklyn’s intent is to save some money in the deal— receiving $3.4 million and a trade exception worth nearly $1 million in the deal involving Kirilenko, who has been rarely used this season and wasn’t part of the Nets rotation. Overall, the Nets will save roughly $12 million in both salary and luxury taxes.

Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, a reputable NBA insider, first reported the development via his official Twitter account.

Kirilenko’s stay in Philadelphia could be temporary as the veteran doesn’t really fit the Sixers’ long-term plans. The 76ers may eventually waive the Russian forward and some teams might be interested in his services. However, because of personal reasons he has not been available for the Nets in most of the games this season. Kirilenko has only appeared in 7 games for the Nets with career-low averages across all stats. For his career, “AK47” has averaged 11.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.8 blocked shots per game.

Meanwhile the Nets will be acquiring Davies, a 23-year-old power forward who is in his second year in the league. He has played in 6 games for the Sixers this season averaging 6.3 points and 3.7 rebounds. The Nets are currently at 8-12 and in eighth place in the Eastern Conference while the Sixers have the league-worst 2-9 record.
