Crew members in dark blue uniforms dominated the 2014 Boat Race, leaving those on light blue with a heavy heart. The Boat Race on the River Thames in London puts the Cambridge crew members and all their supporters in astonishment as one problem stops all the action and put Oxford leading the rowing competition.

Reports said that Cambridge crew member Luke Juckett's oar made contact with Oxford's Kiwi, Sam O'Connor, and threw Juckett off. Juckett lost his stride, and with one crew member's rigger skewed, it ended all chances of Cambridge ever winning the 160th BNY Mellon Boat Race.

"It happened so quickly," Juckett told Telegraph. "One second I'm looking over, the next second my torso's underwater. There's no way to correct it once it happens. It punched me in the chest and took me out."

Cambridge, though, made an appeal saying the Oxford crews were not on their station when the foul was made. According to the rules and umpiring on the Boat Race Web site, the crews must keep to their own racing line and try to make the quickest and fastest way possible to the end.

But, according to the Boat Race umpire Richard Phelps, Oxford crews were on their proper station, so the appeal was put aside. Reports say that Cambridge's Head Coach Steve Trapmore was disappointed with the result.

Aside from taking home a large trophy and smashing the Cambridge crew members to an impressive win, this year's win also made Oxford University break record with 11 lengths in 18 minutes and 36 seconds, making this year's win as the Oxford's biggest win since the year of 1973, according to the Boat Race reports.

Before the rowing competition, the 2014 Boat Race has already revealed Oxford as the competition's favourite. Now, the university lives up to its name as Oxford took an early lead and ended up the winner of the Race and a possible favourite, again, of the 2015 Boat Race.

This year's win is also considered as the fifth win for Oxford in seven years. On April 11, 2015, the 2015 BNY Mellon Boat Race and Newton Women's Boat Race will be held. Do you think Cambridge will be able to regain their stance on the Boat Race, or will it be another year for Dark Blues to gain more supporters?
