Microsoft is yet to start the official rollout of the Windows 10 Mobile update for Windows Phone 8.1 devices, but Vodafone Australia has finished testing the software update and is expected to release it soon.

Windows 10 Mobile was announced in November last year and it was expected to be available for eligible devices running on Windows Phone 8.1 by December 2015. However, the Redmond giant failed to fulfil its promise, with Microsoft then stating that the update would be available by early 2016. But it still not arrived yet.

Carrier partners of Microsoft have been making premature announcements about the release of the Windows 10 Mobile OS update, but T-Mobile Poland is said to have already have released Windows 10 Mobile update for its users in January this year.

Australia could join Poland, with Vodafone Australia this week finishing the testing of the much-awaited software upgrade. The carrier has updated the status of its Windows Phone 8.1 devices to “testing complete, awaiting confirmation of rollout schedule,” indicating that the update will be made available to its users very soon, MS Power User reported.

Vodafone Italy has also confirmed on its forum site that it will start rolling out the Windows 10 Mobile OTA update from next week. Windows Phone 8.1 devices like Lumia 535, Lumia 635, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520 will be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile between March 7-March 13.

An executive from Microsoft Mexico had revealed on Facebook that the Windows 10 Mobile would be available by Feb. 29, but this has not happened. Although most carrier partners of the Redmond giant have been announcing the release of Windows 10 Mobile update prematurely, it seems that most of them may have already completed the testing of the software update.

The release of Windows 10 Mobile update seems imminent, but Microsoft has not released a proper timeframe for it. It is also speculated to release Windows 10 Mobile ROM for OnePlus 2, Xiaomi Mi 5 and the upcoming OnePlus 3 smartphones.
