November 3's featured NFL game involves two teams heading in seemingly opposite directions: the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.

The Chiefs are coming off a 23-17 victory at home against the 3-4 Cleveland Browns which had lost two straight games after opening the season 3-2, including a 37-24 win over the Buffalo Bills on Oct 3. Starting the season with a 28-2 win on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they have been plagued by inconsistency. They can thoroughly dominate an opponent in one game, like they did against the Oakland Raiders and the Jaguars, then win by just one point the next week, like they did against the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans.

Although they lead the AFC West with an 8-1 record, they are by no means safe. Lurking in the shadows are the Denver Broncos, which, at 7-1, also boast a more flashy offense, scoring 343 points to the Chiefs' 191. Kansas City, though, has the best defense in the entire league, letting opponents score a total of only 98 points.

In contrast, the Bills tote a 3-5 record for 2013. However, a closer look reveals that in four of five of the losses, the point differential tended to be seven points or lower, meaning that they were just a touchdown away from winning. Even more revealing is that with the exception of their 17-35 loss against the New Orleans Saints, the average difference for all games, including the ones they lost, was just 3.57 points. In three of the losses, they were held scoreless in the fourth quarter.

The fun part is that the Bills are 2-2 at home, and in both losses, they lost by a total of just four points, one of which was in overtime. If there is one lower-ranked team that can beat the Chiefs, it might just be the Bills.
