Does web browser preference indicate your intelligence quotient?

A recent survey from Vancouver consulting firm AptiQuant shows that Interntet Explorer users have significantly lower IQ than users of Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. The survey which tested over 100,000 users randomly found through user searchers and targeted advertising found no significant differences in the IQs of users of Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

"From the test results, it is a clear indication that individuals on the lower side of the IQ scale tend to resist a change/upgrade of their browsers," AptiQuant said on the correlation between not immediately upgrading web browsers. Internet Explorer users have resisted upgrading to the newest version of IE which had them ranking lower than other net users.

On the opposite end of the scale, Opera users now have the highest IQ amongst netizens. Opera though remaining a distant fifth behind IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari in web browsing, leads in mobile web browsing. IE has over 50% market share in web browsing, which doesn't necessarily translate to better IQ scores.

Offended Internet Explorer users have already threatened AptiQuant CEO Leonard Howard with lawsuits and have sent hate mail to the AptiQuant boss.

"I just want to make it clear that the report released by my company did not suggest that if you use IE that means you have a low IQ, but what it really says is that if you have a low IQ then there are high chances that you use Internet Explorer," he said in a statement on the company's website.

He further went on to say that the company did not feel threatened at all by the lawsuit threats because they have all the scientific data and logs to back their claims. "A win in a court would only give a stamp of approval and more credibility to our report," he quipped

Microsoft has declined to comment on the research data.
