Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will wear the winning design of the “Ronda Rousey Walkout T-shirt Design Contest” for her upcoming match on Feb. 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Rousey will parade the winning design which was chosen among 1,000 entries in the competition that was launched last October.

“Thanks to everyone who submitted their designs for the contest. There were so many amazing options and I’m really excited to walkout wearing the winning design at UFC 184 because it perfectly represents my style and personality,” Rousey said in the official press release sent to this website.

The mixed martial arts outfit unveiled the winning design last Tuesday that showed a grey t-shirt with the word “Rowdy” in the back and the UFC logo at the sleeve. The merchandise is available in both hoodie and t-shirt varieties and is in retail for almost $35 per piece.

The UFC bared that over 1,000 designs were submitted as entries to the competition and the winner was selected by a handpicked UFC Panel and Rousey, herself. The winning entry was the one that got the most points from the given criteria which allotted 50% for creativity and design and another 50% to the way it captured Rousey’s personality. The simplicity of the design caused a bit of an uproar with the fans of the current UFC queen bee given that the winning entry featured a timid approach with little graphical enhancements.

The winner of the event was awarded an assortment of UFC merchandise and electronic equipment such as a Playstation 4 gaming console, UFC fight gloves, an autographed Rousey walkout t-shirt, UFC headphones and earbuds, and the EA Sports UFC Playstation game. Even if the UFC struck a deal with sports apparel Reebok to provide the fight equipment for their fighters, Rousey and the company agreed to let the fans choose her outfit pre-fight.

Rousey is scheduled to defend her title against number 2 contender Cat Zingano in what is anticipated to be the best women’s mixed martial arts bout since the undefeated UFC champion faced Miesha Tate. Tate is expected to be on the sidelines for the main event as she has been vocal about earning a shot at the winner of the match, after having disposed of Sara McMann during the preliminary fight for UFC 183 last Jan. 31.
