You know Jennifer Lawrence as an actress, now meet Jennifer the singer. After winning an Academy Award for her acting skills, J Law now also has a hit song to her credit. The 24-year-old sung a track titled "The Hanging Tree" in the movie "The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1" and it has garnered No. 29 position on the charts in the U. K. Strangely enough, the actress hates singing.

The song is of utmost importance in the movie as the female protagonist, Katniss Everdeen (played by Lawrence), sings it in District 12 for the first time. According to "The Hunger Games" book, Katniss was taught this song by her father before he took his last breath.

The movie's director Francis Lawrence told RadioTimes.com that he roped in Colorado folk band The Lumineers to write the song. J Law was also given a training by a voice coach before she sang it but the actress was so "horrified" at the prospect of singing a song that she even shed a few tears on the day it was supposed to be recorded, reveals Francis.

"She'd probably tell you it was her least favourite day. She was horrified to sing, she cried a little bit in the morning before she had to sing," revealed Francis to the website adding that the actress took an entire day to record it.

Francis said that Jennifer was not interested in a training for singing but somehow she was able to record the song perfectly. The director told the website that he was under an impression that he might have to do some alterations to Jennifer's voice pitch in the song but they did not do anything as the song turned out to be great. "What you hear in the movie is what she did on the day in the quarry. She'll probably never really understand it because she's so sensitive about the singing," he added.

Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson starrer movie "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" has also earned top spot at the global box office with $285 million earnings over the weekend. The movie has been in the cinemas since Nov. 20.
