Just like the 2011 Super Bowl winner, he strongly claims his favorite team, golfer Mark Wilson has won his second victory in three starts this year at Phoenix Open Monday.

Admitting he is a Packers fan, Wilson celebrated his victory after holing a 9-foot birdie putt on the second hole of a playoff with Jason Duffner.

The Phoenix Open winner said in a statement that he is making the most of his time at the game.

“I’m just enjoying the ride here and that’s just kind of the way I’m going to look at the year here, just ride this train as long as I can,” Wilson said, according to The Associated Press.

He was already leading by two shots when the play was suspended Sunday due to low temperature in Scottsdale, Arizona. He hit his tee shot on the seventh hole during the fourth round of the Phoenix Open.

Players were compelled to finish the game Monday due to the weather conditions, that have been the cause of delay for the first four days of the game due to frost and frozen turf, said AP.

Armed with his two shots garnered in the game a day before, Wilson’s luck continued Monday when he closed with a 2-under 69 matching Duffner at 18, who shot a 66, with birdies on Nos. 16 and 17, noted AP.

He admitted however that he was a little shaky during the game.

“I was a little more nervous today than I was expecting,” Wilson said, according to AP. “I didn’t sleep great last night,” adding that his restlessness the night before could have been due to the uncertainties of the game he was to face in Monday’s Phoenix Open play-off

But he continued his game and Wilson made a 4 1/2 -foot par putt on the par-4 18th, allowing him to extend the playoff. He was able to set up a deciding putt with a 7-iron approach, said AP, when he won on the par-4 10th. By the time he ended the playoff, Duffner was facing a 7 ½ par putt.

“That was an easy putt. Just thankfully, I started it on line and knocked it in,” Wilson was quoted as saying by AP.

Meanwhile, despite delays of the game due to frost and frozen turf, he had the chances to bond with family Sunday and spent a few minutes to watch Super Bowl, cheering for Packers.

“I had to wash Lane’s face and put his jammies on, and I had to eat, too,” Wilson said, noted AP. “The chaos, with two little kids running around—I like the chaos; it’s a good distraction. But at that time, I want to at least get to watch the last 15 minutes of this game. This doesn’t happen every year, the Packers in the Super Bowl.

A self-admitted Packers fan, Wilson said he could not be happier with the results of the game, his and that of his favorite team.

“Luckily, my son, after we played Candy Land in the middle of the fourth quarter, he said, `OK, the last two minutes we can watch it together.’ So we watched that last stand, and I was happy that they somehow pulled it off.”
