After finally proving his doubters and naysayers wrong, Manchester United's goalkeeper David De Gea took home the coveted player of the season award but Hugo Lloris of Tottenham has been eyed to take his place. A new development in the team has seen quite the display from the Spaniards, especially Louis van Gaal's men in this present season. Such displays have been quite impressive and prove worthy of attention, turning in quite a number from the sticks.

However, despite the impressive and well-played performances, not to mention, the promising skills of the goalkeeper, De Gea's contract is in line for renewal. Having only agreed to a staggering 18 months in the team, there is nothing much to think about but who shall replace him. There are rumours of contract renewals but this has not spurred Real Madrid from taking a close ear and eye on the player.

The known heir to Iker Casillas in the international sphere, De Gea is being considered by Real for a return to Madrid to act as Casillas' heir at the club level. However, this is without any issues because the reigning champions league winners are opting to contract De Gea out this summer and with all these possible re-alignments, it would be wise for van Gaal to prepare for certain contingencies.

Recent news reports from the Daily Star however give the inclination for the selection of Hugo Lloris from Tottenham as the right replacement for De Gea should the 24-year old player leave Trafford. Lloris is also with proper credential as he is highlighted as France's choice for goal keeper.

Lloris, although considered as one of the few star players of White Hart Lane has been reported as inclined to make a return to the Champions League football; something more realistic for United than getting Spurs of the moment. In like manner, a 25 million pounds fee has been around reported to be the amount Tottenham is seeking for Lloris-an amount as close to what the Red Devils would buy in for De Gea.
