Donny van de Beek of Manchester United during the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United at Molineux on May 23, 2021 in Wolverhampton, England. A limited number of fans will be allowed into Premier League stadiums as Coronavirus restrictions begin to ease in the UK following the COVID-19 pandemic.

As players across the European football scene are making their moves to improve their rosters, Manchester United is yet to make a significant move.

However, two teams may force their hand sooner rather than later.

In an exclusive report by the Manchester Evening News (MEN), Borussia Dortmund and the new owners of Newcastle United have been offered Red Devils midfielder Donny van de Beek this window.

It also included confirmation of rumors that the Dutch player was supposed to be on loan to Everton during the summer transfer window but opted to stay with Manchester United after promises of having a much bigger role than before under then manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

None of Solskjaer’s promises would come to fruition as van de Beek found himself languishing on the bench for the majority of their season.

A factor there could be due to the arrival of prolific midfielder Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund who has established himself as an important piece of Manchester United’s future.

Van de Beek’s lack of playing time has led to him being put in danger of losing his Holland national team spot under Louis Van Gaal, who had previously managed Manchester United.

MEN also noted that the club has at least spoken to both Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United about taking van de Beek into their respective clubs, though there is doubt that it could happen due to Ralf Rangnick remaining undecided about who he can rely on most in the position.

In hopes of finding a long-term solution at midfield, the 62-year-old German interim manager played van de Beek in the final 20 minutes of their hard-fought victory over Aston Villa in the third round of the FA Cup and showered him with praises.

“From the very moment when we changed to a diamond in the last 20 minutes, when Donny came on, from then on we controlled the game, we had our counter-attack situations. Unfortunately, we didn't take the right decisions in the final third so if we had done that we could and should have scored the second goal," said Rangnick after the match as quoted by the MEN

Manchester United is expected to remain busy throughout January as Rangnick sorts out the players who would be most competitive for the Old Trafford side moving forward.

Their next match is against Aston Villa in their home turf of Villa Park on Saturday, January 15 in the English Premier League as they hope to recover from their 1-0 stumble against the Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.
