Could the 2015 US Open produce the next power couple in sports? Basing on reports out of New York and images from a recent mixed doubles match involving Nick Kyrgios and Eugenie Bouchard, it appears the pair has found chemistry inside the court as they beat Elina Svitolina and Artem Sitak in their first round match-up.

However, off the court, Bouchard admitted that there is nothing going on between the two as the Canadian stated that they have not gone out on any romantic date.

“I've known him since the junior days. Seen him around a lot. And, yeah, I just think he's really nice. You know, obviously we talk a bit more now since we're playing mixed doubles together. We've never hung out or anything,” Bouchard said via the tournament’s official website. “Yeah, I mean, I just think he's so funny and interesting and he's good for the game. So I support him. Yeah, he's very nice and humble.”

While Bouchard has seen the good traits of Kyrgios during their mixed doubles match, the public has seen the Australian in a different light recently.

Kyrgios, who has dominated the tennis headlines in recent months for the wrong reasons, is known as a temperamental player on the court and a very vocal and outspoken person off it. The young Australian was heavily criticised in his men’s singles first round loss to Andy Murray with American John McEnroe calling him out for his “bonehead moves” during the match and that the Australian should step up his play or he will be remembered “as a clown” in his tennis career.

Kyrgios was also in the hot seat after cameras caught him talking trash—below the belt-- against top player Stan Wawrinka in one of the lead-up tournaments to the 2015 US Open.

"Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend," Kyrgios reportedly said to Wawrinka. "Sorry to tell you that, mate.”

Despite Kyrgios' reputation, Bouchard said that he enjoyed playing with the Australian describing him as a “really funny guy”.

Unfortunately, the Kyrgios-Bouchard pair bowed out in the mixed doubles competition via a walkover win by Martina Hingis and Leander Paes in the second round. Bouchard reportedly fell in the locker room and sustained a head injury and withdrew from both the mixed doubles and women's doubles competition. Her status in the women's singles competition is still under medical evaluation.

While Kyrgios is out of the men’s singles tournament, Bouchard is still alive in the women’s side and will face Roberta Vinci of Italy in the fourth round. Not surprisingly, Kyrgios showed his support on Twitter to his partner for her next match.
