Liverpool manager Brendon Rodgers, according to The Telegraph, is seriously considering signing the Australian first choice goalkeeper Mathew Ryan as a long-term replacement for Simon Mignolet. Incidentally Liverpool already have another Australian goalkeeper in Brad Jones, who has had three starts for the Reds this season.

Mathew Ryan, 22, currently plays in the Belgian Pro League with Club Brugge for the last two seasons. Last season he was voted the best goalkeeper in the Belgian league. He has been the best goalkeeper in the Australian A League in the 2011-12 season as well. Currently he is at international duty in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup on home soil where he has again impressed everyone. "I don't see him staying for much longer at Club Brugge. I know he would like to go to the Premier League", Club Brugge's former sporting director Arnar Gretarsson told increasing speculation further.

Liverpool's first choice keeper Simon Mignolet has had a rather patchy season with the club. His poor form got the Australian keeper at the club Brad Jones three starts. Unfortunately this experiment did not last as Jones got injured and Mignolet was returned his spot in the starting eleven. Ryan's age would be a perfect fit for Liverpool looking for a long term solution.

Meanwhile recently retired Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has spoken of his admiration towards soon to depart Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. "He is a dream for any striker. Ask Fernando Torres. Ask Luis Suarez. Ask any striker who has played with him", Henry said while explaining Gerrard's numerous abilities on the football pitch. He went on to say that he wished that in their long footballing careers they had played in the same team. He was also at hand to recall the numerous on-field battles that he has had with the former England captain.
