Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers intimated that he will be confronting England boss Roy Hodgson on Sunday concerning the latter's comments on Raheem Sterling's physical state, which caused a frenzy lately.

The Three Lions mentor stated recently that he opted to give some rest to the 19-year-old during the international break because the latter complained of fatigue incurred at club level.

Sterling is most affected as it has caused an outrage by supporters, and the Reds overseer will not take things sitting down.

"I'm fed up reading about this club v country, claims we intervened and put pressure on Roy Hodgson," said Rodgers.

"I've read we sent a dossier to the FA on Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge and I'm having showdown talks with Roy Hodgson on Sunday and all sorts of rubbish."

"I haven't said a single word but have to say I have never seen such rubbish written over the past few days."

"The boy is being hung out to dry and I dare say the criticism will continue for a few more weeks to come because of this."
