One of Pep Guardiola's friend and renowned journalist Marti Perarnau revealed that the Bayern Munich boss wanted to call the shots at Manchester United.

The former high jump player made public of the confidential information through his book "In Pep Confidential: The Inside Story of Pep Guardiola's First Season at Bayern Munich."

"I like this atmosphere. I could see myself coaching here one day," was Guardiola's remarks, referring to what he was experiencing while watching the Red Devils at home in a Champions League clash against Schalke in 2011, according to Perarnau.

He furthermore stated that United wanted the former FC Barcelona mentor to succeed the then-troubled David Moyes, but the manager who led Barca to winning the Champions League twice chose to stay in Bavaria.

Meanwhile, Guardiola made some connections with Old Trafford this season, only that they were made through shots directed towards his counterpart Louis van Gaal, who is reported to be interested in some of his players like Arjen Robben.
