There have been huge influences in the incumbent Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho's life. He has worked and learned from the very best in the managerial world. It is not Sir Bobby Robson, Louis Van Gaal or Sir Alex Ferguson but his beloved wife Matilda who has been the biggest influence in his life.

Speaking to Clare Balding for the BT Sports Christmas Day double bill he was all praise for his teenage sweetheart and later wife Matilda whom he married in 1989. According to him, she does not know anything about football and does not even like the game. "She's very intelligent and she helped me on many occasions during my career... I think she's the one", he said continuing to recall the numerous influences that she has had on him.

The biggest according to the Chelsea manager was back in 2007 when the English FA wanted to appoint him as their manager; it was his wife who was not very pleased with the proposed deal. He listened to her and thinks that it was the right decision to take. He enjoys the everyday competitive nature of managing a club and maybe 20 years from now will think of managing a country.

He thinks that even if he retires from football today, he will consider his career to be a grand success. He also is pleased that he has made entry into football management for people who have not played at the highest level easier as a result of his success.

He believes that his present Chelsea side are on their way to becoming a champion team and remain so for years to come. Chelsea will play West Ham United at home on Christmas Day and Southampton away on Sunday. On New Year's Day they will play Tottenham Hotspurs and Watford at home on the next Sunday for a third round FA Cup tie.
