Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho revealed that his squad's lack of focus cost them two points, as the Blues dropped two points with a 1-1 draw against Maribor.

The west London outfit even trailed for 23 minutes after the opposition opened the scoreline in the 50th minute, which was cancelled out by a Nemanja Matic. Eden Hazard had the best chance of saving his side from embarrassment, but his spot-kick attempt was stopped by Maribor goalkeeper Jasmin Handanovic.

''The first half we were not good. We played very slow, with no intensity, no creativity. It was easy for Maribor to control the game," said Mourinho.

''Many times surprises happen when people are not fully focused. When they believe the game can't be a difficult one."

He further disclosed that his charges only felt a sense of urgency when they went down 1-0, which wasn't a good sign.

''It was only when Maribor scored that the players realised the game was in danger. After that we played magnificently and deserved to win," he added.

"I was not successful in passing over the right message. If I cannot convince the players that the game is difficult and you have to play from minute one, obviously it's my responsibility."
