Britney Spears Reveals She's Suffered Miscarriage: 'We Lost Our Miracle Baby'

Britney Spears has announced that she has suffered a miscarriage.

Just weeks after revealing that they are expecting their first child together, Spears, 40, and fiancé Sam Asghari, 28, announced Saturday via a joint statement on Instagram that they have lost their "miracle baby."

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy," the couple, who got engaged in September 2021, wrote. "This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along. However, we were overly excited to share the good news."

"Our love for each other is our strength," the statement continued. "We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all the support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment."

In the caption, Spears thanked her fans and followers for their support, adding, "We are grateful for what we have in the process of expanding our beautiful family."

Asghari added in the comments: "We will have a miracle soon."

Friends and fans of Spears and Asghari sent their prayers and left messages of love and support for the couple amid this difficult time.

"I'm so sorry for your loss, sis," Spears' friend Paris Hilton wrote. "Always here for you. Sending you so much love [red heart emoji]. Love you lots, B."

"So sorry," singer Christina Perri commented, while Chloe Morello wrote, "I’m so sorry, Britney & Sam."

"Lots of love to you both," Hayden Williams commented. "Sending you love, sweet Britney," Rafael De La Fuente added.

Spears announced that she was expecting her third child last month. In an April 11 Instagram post, she shared that she lost a lot of weight for their Maui trip "only to gain it back."

"My husband said, 'No, you're food pregnant silly!!!' So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby," she wrote at the time. "It’s growing !!! If 2 are in there … I might just lose it."

The "Toxic" hitmaker is mom to sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Asghari also expressed his joy and excitement over their upcoming bundle of joy. The personal trainer said he was looking forward to being a dad for the first time.

"Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect," Asghari wrote on Instagram after his fiancée announced her pregnancy. "Fatherhood is something I have always looked forward to and I don't take lightly. It is the most important job I will ever do."
