Gennady Golovkin, who is considered one of the rising stars in boxing, reportedly can’t wait for his next bout, which is going to be the first pay-per-view, or PPV, fight in his career. The middleweight division champion from Kazakhstan admitted in a recent interview that he’s excited for reaching the “highest level” in boxing as he’s featured in a PPV fight against David Lemieux of Canada.

“Pay-Per-View to me means reaching the highest level in the sport. This has given me the opportunity for my first title unification fight. All the big names in boxing have fought on Pay-Per-View and I look forward to making my first Pay-Per-View on October 17 against champion David Lemieux," the 33-year-old Kazakh champion said to boxingscene.com.

Golovkin added that he’s thankful for the support of his fans for the past years and that he plans to fight only the best fighters in the middleweight division.

The Golovkin vs. Lemieux fight will be for multiple titles in their division. The International Boxing Federation, International Boxing Organisation, World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association middleweight belts will all be at stake in the fight scheduled on Oct. 17 at the Madison Square Garden in New York in the United States.

Golovkin, who is from Karaganda, Kazakhstan but resides in Los Angeles, California, is undefeated in 33 career bouts and is a known knockout artist with 30 wins not going to the distance. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Lemieux, who is from Montreal, Quebec has a win-loss record of 34-2 with 31 coming via knockout victories.

The Golovkin vs. Lemieux fight is expected to be an action-packed bout considering both fighters are known for their heavy hands. Golovkin is coming off a sixth round technical knockout win over Willie Monroe Jr. last May, while Lemieux won over Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam via a 12-round unanimous decision last June.
