The Nov 22 Pacquiao-Algieri fight at the Cotai Arena in Macau will probably go down in boxing history as the cleanest one in terms of no trash talk exchanged at all between the two opponents. Only bold predictions that they will win the match and until what round will his opponent last were heard.

The respect for each other extends even to their parents. Chris Algieri's mum, Adriana, admitted that she and her husband are fans of Manny Pacquiao themselves as Chris is too. "What I do appreciate is the fact that circumstances, luck, whatever you want to call it, he has the opportunity to fight a living legend, as he calls him - Manny Pacquiao," The New York Times quotes Adriana.

She added, "We know a lot of boxers out there who would love to be in Chris's shoes."

However, as the number one supporter of their son, the Algieris naturally will cheer their boxer-son. The father assured his son that despite their group of 30 being small, their cheers of Chris would not be drowned by the expected 15,000 boxing fans who include Sylvester "Rambo" Stallone, former California Gov Arnold "The Terminator" Schwarzenegger and musician Randy Jackson, brother of music icon Michael Jackson.

Jackson has stated that he is not only supporting Pacquiao but betting on the Filipino legislator who is the bettors' favourite to win the match.

The Algieri team is less than 10 percent of Team Pacquiao which numbers more than 300. They came aboard two charter jets, were fetched at Macau airport by four charter buses and the Venetian Hotel had to temporarily convert a huge function hall when Pacquiao's family, kin, friends and workers arrived to register.

The mothers of the two boxers likewise appear to have something in common. Until his last two fights, Pacquiao's mum prayed with her religious friends for his victory in their family prayer room, while the rest of the household watched and cheered their champ fight.

Adriana told GMA that she likewise had not watched any of Chris's 20 past fights and stayed inside her room praying for his win. That includes Algieri's bout this year against Ruslan Provodnikov which gave him the WBO junior welterweight belt and won him a purse of $100,000 that the American boxer used to pay his student loan, pave the driveway of his parent's hoe in New York and open a scholarship fund.

Adriana is, however, breaking that tradition this time by flying all the way to Macau to watch her son slug it out with a boxing legend.

In Pacquiao's bout with Timothy Bradley in March 2014, Pacquiao's mum, Dionesia, was mistaken for "hexing" his opponent when she was just praying for Manny's victory, but complete with stretching of hand and eyes closed in deep prayer. After Bradley's defeat, Dionesia went up the ring, embraced the American boxer and apologised for praying that he lose to her son.

The cameras would likely be watching Dionesia's every move again, and possibly also monitor Adriana's as well in what could be a battle of the prayerful mums showdown.

Such interesting sidelights more than makes up for the lack of trash talk that boxing matches have been known for.
