Bette Midler and Ariana Grande have allegedly been at feud with each after Midler accused the young singer of "sexualising" her music for the market. However, the 69-year-old recently took it upon herself to ask for forgiveness for her blatant critique about Arianna allegedly selling "sex" with her performances.

Apparently, Bette Midler has not forgotten about her feud with Ariana Grande when she celebrated her birthday on Monday, Dec. 1. However, according to Mail Online, instead of offending the pop star again, the 69-year-old this time publicly announced through social media that she would like to make amends. Through her Twitter account, Bette wished for Ariana to forgive her soon and even asked if she could direct the singer's next music video (see tweet below).

The Bette Midler-Ariana Grande feud started when Bette made a rather harsh critique on Ariana's performances. In an interview with The Telegraph, the 69-year-old claimed "it's terrible" that pop music nowadays have sexual connotations. Bette even cites the slapping of butts not as a dance move but people showing they "really like to pretend having sex." However, Midler made a personal analysis of Ariana being one of those people since she too "slaps her own butt" during her "silly beyond belief" dances. Bette supposed Ariana's manager have told the young singer to "whore" herself in the music industry by selling sex through her performances.

"It's always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, a very wholesome voice, slithering around on a couch looking so ridiculous," she said. "Sex has always sold," Bette Midler added in the interview.

According to Mail Online, as a fan of Bette's, Ariana Grande was really shocked at the comments. However, that didn't stop the young singer from hitting back with a tweet, calling Bette "a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judgement!" Then she added, "not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back!! Always a fan no matter what my love." To prove her point, Ariana even tweeted a photo of the 69-year-old in her younger days scantily clad in a mermaid-inspired bikini. Mail Online shared the photo, which was captioned "All love here."

Whether fans would soon see the Bette Middler-Ariana Grande feud come to an end remains unclear. It's still uncertain if Ariana will fulfill the 69-year-old's birthday wish. Likewise, the 21-year-old pop star has yet to comment on Middler's gesture of forgiveness.

Yes, it's my birthday! And my birthday wish is that @ArianaGrande forgives me soon and let's me direct her next video...
