Android 5.0 Lollipop is live on Nexus devices to bring the latest OS upgrades, Material Design and Project Volta. For other eligible devices, check out the upgrade plans in coming weeks including early 2015.

Following The Nexus Line

In Twitter, Android 5.0 Lollipop is gradually being released to Nexus devices and will soon cover every eligible model worldwide. Nexus devices eligible for this upgrade are LG Nexus 4, LG Nexus 5, ASUS 7 2012 and 2013 and Samsung Nexus 10.

Google Play Edition or GPE devices are expected to be next on the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade plans confirmed by Google via official blog post. Official GPE devices are Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One M7, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Motorola Moto G, HTC One M8 and LG G Pad 8.3 tablet.

LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop Release Within This Week

LG seems to be the first brand manufacturer to release the official Android 5.0 Lollipop update for a flagship smartphone. Official press release of the company confirmed the LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop software upgrade in Nov. 9 and scheduled to be released within this week starting in Poland. Android 5.0 Lollipop for LG G3 will soon reach other key markets and other LG devices in the future.

HTC And Motorola Software Development

HTC is now developing the Android 5.0 Lollipop software for HTC One M8, One M7 and other models under the HTC One Series. Official software update webpage for HTC One M8 confirmed the evaluation stage of Android 5.0 for HTC One M8 and it is expected to be released within 90 days after Google's official OS launch.

Motorola is also working on the Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware for several devices. Blog post from the company's site noted that the next generation Android has been released to the Android Open Source Project or AOSP and the company will be working with owned technology and carrier partners before the official rollout. Android 5.0 Lollipop is now on soak test for Motorola Moto X second generation smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S5 And Galaxy S4

Samsung started the testing phase of Android 5.0 Lollipop with TouchWiz UI on two flagship smartphones - Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4. Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 have been included to the list of eligible devices for Android 5.0 Lollipop update with expected features such as new Galaxy Note 4 fingerprint lock screen, new system-wide font, smoother animations, Gallery filters for sorting, improvements on the Music app UI, new search box on the Contacts app and more demonstrated via YouTube video.

Sony Xperia Devices By Early 2015

So far, only Sony Mobile is sure to release the Android 5.0 Lollipop on 2015 except for the Google Play Edition of Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Android Open Source Project or AOSP version of Android 5.0 has been reported under beta testing phase on Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 smartphones while Xperia L and Xperia Z received Android 5.0 Lollipop porting support from XDA Developers Forum. Sony Mobile also launched 3Beta with Three Sweden to allow selected users to test Android 5.0 on Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact in the region.
