Southampton has been reported to mirror the same mentality as that of its parent club Atletico Madrid. This observation has been well noted by Loanee Toby Alderweireld. Toby Alderweireld has been popularly known to play a major and key role in his season-long deal from Atletico Madrid while Southampton pushes its luck further at the UEFA Champions League qualification.

Southampton's manager Ronald Koeman has received kudos from other teams' coaches and sports analysts. The manager was successful in driving Southampton to the fourth rank and final Champions League spot right after 18 rounds despite the fact that Southampton suffered from a series of migration from its players at the start of the season.

What seemed to be a good strategy, which has been effectively implemented by Southampton is also experienced by Alderweireld on a greater scale with Madrid. Alderweireld's similar experience took place when Diego Simeone's Atletico created the odds on their favour just to win Spain's La Liga against Real Madrid and Barcelona.

For the Belgium international, Atletico's success can be all attributed to the team's spirit and the mentality of Simeone, which is something that is greatly similar to Southampton. According to Alderweireld during his interview with the Telegraph, Atletico too was not given a chance from the beginning. However, from where it stands now in the arena, it sure has found its way.

In fact, Alderweireld has further noted that even probably during the last 10 games, people would have said that Atletico will lose their points. To counter all these dragging-the-team-spirit statements, Simeone battled it with a mindset by going game per game. "Live to fight another game." For Simeone, while the rest of the team has better players and squad, Atletico has a team.

Atletico's very effective strategy points out to three goals: win, three points, or go home. These goals have been effectively sent across to all members in the team and each one of them has understood by heart what each word means. Simeone's tactics have proved no less than efficient -- this is something akin to Southampton, too. For Alderweireld, Simeone is yet the greatest coach he's ever seen.
