The file-hosting website, Bayfiles vanished from the internet after the arrest of Fredrik Neij. Two people formerly associated with The Pirate Bay started Bayfiles. The sudden disappearance left many users clueless about what happened to the website.

TorrentFreak noted that Peter Sunde and Fredrik Neij of The Pirate Bay started Bayfiles three years ago. The duo based the model on the cyberlocker. Bayfiles had a good user base and hardly ran into any problems.

The website disappeared after Fredrik Neij was arrested. Third-party websites used Bayfiles and it is unknown how many users have stored their personal files on the website.

TorrentFreak talked to Peter Sunde and he stated that the downtime can be linked to the arrest of Neij. Sunde mentioned that he hasn't been a part of the website since its launch.

"I started Bayfiles and invited Fredrik and a third person to join in. Then all of a sudden, just before the launch, I no longer had access to the system and other systems that we previously co-operated in making. I also lost access to a few sites that Fredrik was hosting for me," Sunder told TF.

The friendship between Sunde and Neij ended after this episode. Sunde revealed that Neij stopped responding and they never talked to each other later.

"Since that day Fredrik has never replied to any of my calls, texts, emails, chat requests or anything. I actually feels it's kind of karma that he's in prison, just a shame that he's in prison for the wrong thing," Sunde said.

According to TorrentFreak, if Neij is the current man behind the operations of Bayfiles then it will take some time to bring the website back in action. Neij was arrested and taken to a prison in Sweden. Meanwhile, The Pirate Bay is accessible for users across the globe.
