Pippa Middleton picks up her boxing gloves and experienced the real game before writing for her first 'Telegraph' column 'Sport and Social'. Although Pippa Middleton is the sister of future Queen Kate Middleton, in her latest column she has revealed that she is not afraid of going in a "no VIP access" boxing club.

Pippa was photographed at Fitzroy Lodge Amateur Boxing Club in Lambeth south London after a "fitness fanatic friend" persuaded her go there and where she has been attending boxing classes regularly over the past year.

Pippa who hails from a middle-class family opened up about her first experience of the South London boxing scene. After a tentative start off, she ended up looking at the sport with "fresh and approving eyes." Pippa has experienced some real punches while boxing with coach Mark Reigate at the Fitzroy Lodge Amateur Boxing Club.

Middleton in her new "Sport and Social" column for the Telegraph concluded ."The air was heavy and sweet with the sweat of adrenaline-fuelled bodies," began Pippa.

"The dingy location was a club, but not the sort I was familiar with: no VIP areas here. And as for Happy Hour... forget it," quipped Pippa before admitting that she has always associated boxing with "scenes of blood, drugs and violence."

After weekly sessions of "rugged and ruthless" routines, Pippa concluded that she came to understand that the boxing scene is about more than just fitness and she was pleased with her use of muscles.

"Many boxing clubs have a community role and Fitzroy Lodge is no glam-gig, but a thriving non-profit-making charitable establishment: shabby outside and in, but a hub that engenders discipline, self-control and motivation in all who attend," wrote Pippa.

Pippa described the scene as "dingy" and "unglamorous". "Everyone is welcomed and treated the same," added Kate Middleton's sister.

"It's not only a form of fitness - an escape from school, work and nagging loved ones - but also, for many troubled youngsters from the streets and broken families, a place to learn, focus and have a purpose."

Pippa admitted that boxing can do wonders for you fitness.

"One of the biggest pluses is undoubtedly the prospect of a better body and the chance to crunch up to 600 calories an hour toning up arms, bums and tums, and banishing bingo wings, back fat and booze blubber."

Pippa is at present working with The Sported Foundation (a charity dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged young people through sport).
