Days before Oscar dela Hoya's biggest fight as a promoter, the founder of Golden Boy Promotions has reportedly entered a rehab facility.

Dela Hoya's client, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, is scheduled to face off against Floyd Mayweather on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The bout is a 152-pound catchweight fight for the WBC, WBA, and Ring Magazine light middleweight title.

The former world champion has issued a statement about his latest issue:

"Canelo Alvarez and I have big fights coming up this weekend. His is in the ring and mine in treatment.
I will not be at the fight this Saturday to cheer Canelo to victory since I have voluntarily admitted myself into a treatment facility.
I explained this to Canelo and he understood that my health and long-term recovery from my disease must come first.
Thank you for your understanding. I ask for your support and privacy during this difficult time for me and my family."

This is not the first time that dela Hoya has sought help with his personal issues. In May 2011, he went through treatment at the Betty Ford Center for his alcoholism and cocaine addiction, and spoke openly about his substance abuse and marital infidelity. He also revealed that he contemplated suicide during that period.

Dela Hoya admitted that he drank heavily while preparing for a bout against Manny Pacquiao. "I was drinking during camp. A week before the fight with Pacquiao, I was having wine, beers, because I said he is not going to beat me. I have the height, the weight, he couldn't beat me," De La Hoya told ESPNDeportesLosAngeles.

While Dela Hoya's absence will definitely be felt on Saturday, the recent admission has not made an impact on the anticipation for the fight, which has broken the record for gate ticket receipts. Saturday's card is also on track to breaking the pay-per-view record, set by Dela Hoya and Mayweather in 2007.
