Nokia Likely To Make Its ‘Comeback’ To The Smart Phone Market; Expected To Hit Markets In 2016

Nokia is likely to make its comeback to the smart phone market as the once ‘most popular’ mobile handset maker’s deal with Microsoft to refrain itself from entering the smart phone segment will expire in the third quarter of 2016, according to reports.
According to a report on IT Wire, Nokia Technologies, the division that owns 10,000 patents is in plans to re-enter the smart phone market. Nokia Technologies has released the android program called Zlauncher and the N1, an Android tablet design it licensed to Foxconn to make and sell into China, reports Re/code.
It is expected that Nokia would try out Android, as it did with its N1 tablet design as it is quite late for the company to come up with an entirely new operating system, says the IT Wire report. The company has lined up for other technology projects, some of which will be in the virtual reality space. The company is also working on its products for next year and beyond, reports Re/code.
As part of its £4.5 billion deal with Microsoft, Nokia disposed of its manufacturing units and supply chain in 2013, reports Expert Reviews. Microsoft that has phased out Nokia’s brand name from its handsets is also getting prepared for Nokia’s comeback. Despite acquiring Nokia, Microsoft has not seen any improvement in its mobile business, says the Expert Reviews report. As per the report, the market share of Windows Phone in the mobile segment slipped to 2.8 percent in 2014, down from 3 percent in 2013.
Nokia, which was once the most popular handset manufacturer, was slow in realizing the challenges it could face from Apple and Google that came up with touch screen technology. The Finnish manufacturer continued with its obsolete Symbian operating system that befitted keyboard based devices instead of touch screens, mentions Expert Reviews.
If the latest news on Nokia re-entering the smart phone market is true then the company would first sell its products in the China markets and if it stuns its customers with an amazing technology, the company might plan for the global launch of its product, mentions the report in IT Wire.
