Microsoft Surface Book was launched in October 2015. The rumour mill had been claiming that its successor, the Surface Book 2, would be unleashed in the next month. However, fresh speculations are hinting that the arrival of Surface Book 2 has been delayed until 2017. Here are the top 5 reasons behind its delay:

Design Conflicts

The Surface Book 2 is expected to arrive with a 4K resolution display. It is also expected to come with additional features like Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type-C. Rumours are suggesting that inclusion of these features are causing conflicts in the current design of the device.

Kaby Lake Chipset

Intel Kaby Lake chipset is expected to release in third quarter of this year. It is expected to deliver better battery life and improved performance over the Skylake chipset that power the original Surface Book. Hence, it is likely that the Kaby Lake chipset powered Surface Book 2 may become available for purchase by October this year.

Windows 10 Redstone 2

According to ZD Net, Microsoft is expected to release Windows 10 Redstone 2 that will bring along several new features in spring 2017. It is likely that the Surface Book 2 will feature the latest version of Windows 10. Hence, speculations are also claiming that the Surface Book 2 release date will be scheduled in spring 2017.

Microsoft is also rumoured to be working on Surface Pro 5 and it is also expected to release either in October 2016 or by spring next year. Speculations indicate that it will be coming with a larger display of 13.3 inches and it will be available in various processor models of Intel Kaby Lake chipset.

It is expected to arrive with a chargeable Surface Pen that will feature an LED for notifications. The other rumoured features of Surface Pro 5 include fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port and larger battery.
