The Microsoft Lumia 535 is the first handset to launch with Microsoft branding which was announced in November this year. The Nokia Lumia 635 was revealed in June this year. It has a dual SIM variant called the Lumia 630. Customers who are looking forward to purchase the new Lumia 535 may want to compare it with the another cheaply priced Lumia 635.

Design And Display

The Microsoft Lumia 535 has a slim body which measures only 8.8 mm whereas the Lumia 635 is slightly thicker with a thickness of 9.2 mm. Both the handsets are available in colours like orange, green, white and black. However, the Lumia 535 is available in additional two colours like gray and blue and the Lumia 630 is also available in an additional colour of yellow.

The rear panel of Lumia 535 has a glossy finish and allows good grip. It has a curvy body like the Lumia 520. The Lumia 635 is made up of matte plastic because of which it offers better grip. The front side of both the handsets is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Both the handsets have IPS LCD display. The Lumia 535 has a bigger screen of 5-inch and it supports a display resolution of 540 x 960 pixels with 220 ppi. The Lumia 635 comes with a 4.5-inch screen supporting 480 x 854 pixels along with a pixel density of 221 ppi.

Processor, RAM And Storage

The Lumia 535 has a low-end Snapdragon 200 chipset under its hood which comprises of 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor and Adreno 302 graphics. The Lumia 635 is powered by a better chipset of Snapdragon 400 which features a Cortex A7 quad-core processor gunning at 1.2 GHz coupled with Adreno 305 graphics.

The Lumia 535 features 1 GB of RAM whereas the Lumia 635 disappoints with 512 MB RAM. Both the handsets come with internal storage capacity of 8 GB and external storage support of up to 128 GB of microSD.

Camera, Software And Connectivity

The Lumia 535 as well as the Lumia 635 features a 5 MP camera on their rear side. However, the Lumia 635 lacks LED flash for the rear camera. The Lumia 535 disappoints by supporting a video recording quality of 480 pixels at 30 fps.Both come with 5 MP frontal camera; however, the one on Lumia 535 has been optimized to snap wide-angle selfies. The Lumia 635 supports HD video recording at 30 fps. The Lumia 535 and the Lumia 635 are running on Windows Phone 8.1 OS.

The Lumia 535DS model supports dual-SIM whereas the Lumia 635 is a single SIM handset. The Lumia 630 variant which comes with specs as Lumia 635 supports dual-SIM. The Lumia 635 supports 4G LTE connectivity but the new Lumia 535 lacks it. Both the handsets share the same connectivity features like 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB port and aGPS.

Battery And Price

The Lumia 535 contains a bigger 1,905 mAh battery offering a talk time of up to 13 hours on 3G. The Lumia 635 is equipped with a slightly smaller battery of 1830 mAh and it delivers 14 hours of 3G talk time.

The Microsoft Lumia 535 and the Nokia Lumia 635 carry cheaper price tags. In the U.S., the unlocked Lumia 535 is priced at $169.99 on Expansys which equates to around AU$203. On the other hand, the unlocked Lumia 635 is available with a price tag of $179 at Microsoft Store which is about AU$216.
