David Beckham Goes on a Secret Voyage to the Amazon Rainforest

David Beckham embarked on a top-secret voyage to the Amazon rainforest for a British Broadcasting Corporation One (BBC One) documentary about Brazil. Beckham apparently took a break from his usual high-profile socialite life and became a rainforest explorer for two weeks.

According to a news report by The Guardian, Beckham went to Brazil on the sly to film the said documentary. He was joined by fellow explorers Derek White and Gardner as well as filmmaker Anthony Mandler. The retired British soccer superstar pulled his weight and did his fair portion of the work. He was spotted camping, fishing and cooking as he trekked through the Amazon rainforest earlier in March.

BBC One Channel's controller Charlotte Moore said that viewers who will watch the documentary will witness Beckham as he runs into the other side of the largest country in the South America and Latin American region and journey through its tropical rainforest. Ms Moore also revealed that this documentary gig was a first for the former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Los Angeles Galaxy star. Earlier in March, it has been reported that Ms. Moore was working on signing Beckham on a broadcasting job with BBC One.

BBC Worldwide will reportedly be the entity responsible for the international sales of Beckham's Amazon documentary. It will be launched at the MipTV 2014 International TV sales festival in April.

"This is an unforgettable documentary set in the heart of the dense Amazon rainforest following David Beckham," said BBC Worldwide's managing director for content Helen Jackson. "Through his eyes, audiences will experience life in the jungle," MsJackson added. "Something so distant from David's life on and off the pitch and in the glare of the world's media," Ms Jackson concluded.

The title of Beckham's 90-minute Amazon documentary is still unknown, but it is expected to be screened in June, in line with the World Cup tournament.
