Just recently, it has been rumoured that Cristiano Ronaldo's nickname for Lionel Messi in the locker room is a certain profane word. An article on The Telegraph detailed how the two soccer superstars are cordial to each other in public and revealed that if Ronaldo sees someone from the club who speaks with Messi, he also ends up being dubbed with the same profane language. However, the 29-year-old, Ronaldo denied the claims of obscene name calling behind closed doors; instead he revealed that he has nothing but respect for his rival.

"This is absolutely false and I have assured my lawyer takes action to sue those responsible," the Portuguese posted on Facebook. "I have the utmost respect for all my professional colleagues, and Messi is obviously no exception."

The two have been in a constant battle against each other to become the best player in the world with Lionel Messi recently beating Cristiano Ronaldo to equal Real Madrid striker Raul as the all-time top goal scorer in the Champions League. Thus far, Messi just needs two more goals to be the all-time top scorer of La Liga, having netted 250 times in 285 games.

Just recently, Ronaldo ended Messi's run of three consecutive Ballon d'Or titles this year and he is currently ranked ninth on the league's leading scorer's list. Ronaldo is the reigning World Player of the Year, an award that Messi has won four times previously.

Portugal and Argentina is set to play next week in a high-profile international soccer friendly match, which will pit Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi against each other. The match that will be held at Old Trafford on Tuesday is expected to be a hit but just 15,000 tickets have been sold according to BBC. The match organiser Leo Morales revealed that he doesn't know why they haven't had more sales. Manchester United's stadium's capacity is 75,731 and a ticket for the match costs £40.
