Real Madrid has a lot of work to do, and it appears part of those plans is Martin Odegaard.

It seems Los Blancos plan to hold talks with the Norwegian midfielder on a potential new deal.

If discussions turn out well, this means that Arsenal's plans of getting him may have been shunned once more.

A report claims that Real Madrid aims to enter talks with the 22-year-old who was allegedly not looking forward to rejoining Los Blancos.

However, there have been personnel changes recently, including the exit of Zinedine Zidane and the entry of Carlo Ancelotti.

Odegaard was unable to strike it well with Zidane, a reason why he was loaned out to Arsenal.

It appeared he was happily playing with the Gunners, but Odegaard was aware that the final say remains with Real Madrid.

“I am happy here at Arsenal, we will see after the season what will happen," Odegaard said last May. "I’m owned by Real Madrid, so we have to speak to them. It’s important to understand what they want."

With Zizou out, Odegaard allegedly feels that he will get a better chance at showing his potential compared to before.

He is excited to rejoin Los Blancos and this would be bad news for the Gunners’ plans of getting him over to the Emirates Stadium.

Odegaard’s current contract runs through 2023. However, Real Madrid now wants to keep the Norwegian midfielder and extend his contract.

As a Gunner, Odegaard made 14 appearances for Arsenal and accounted for a goal and two assists.

If Real Madrid seals the deal with Odegaard, he would be another missed player that Mikel Arteta had on his wish list.

Arsenal had already missed out on Emi Buendia, who completed a switch from Norwich City to Aston Villa recently.
