Very recently, Google introduced its inexpensive handset called Android One in India, whereas the Motorola Moto E was released in May. Notably, the wallet-friendly handset from Google is referred as "Spice Android One Dream UNO Mi-498" in India. Readers who are interested in the budget-friendly Moto E or the Android One should check out this comparison.

Display

The Moto E features a 4.3-inch display bundled with a screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. The Android One, on the other hand, features a relatively bigger 4.5-inch IPS display with 854 × 480 pixels resolution. The pixel densities of the Moto E and the Android One handsets stand at 256 ppi and 217 ppi, respectively.

When it comes to the design, the Moto E has an extremely sturdy build and it is comfortable on the hands. The rubber-like plastic rear panel provides excellent grip. It is worth noting that, the Moto E comes with a unique waterproof coating. Although, this coating cannot be compared to the IP67 certified (water resistant) devices like the Galaxy S5 and the Xperia Z2, the handset is water repellent and splash proof. Nevertheless, the information pertaining to the Android One Dream UNO Mi-498 device is unknown at this point, for the reason that the phone has recently been launched.

Under The Hood

The Android One is powered by a quad-core (MediaTek MT6582) processor clocked at 1.3 GHz and backed by 1 GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the Moto E is powered by a relatively inferior dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 200) Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and the same 1 GB of RAM. Also, the Moto E runs on Android OS v4.4.2 KitKat (upgradable to v4.4.4 KitKat), whereas the Android One runs on Android v4.4.4 KitKat out of the box. It is worth noting that, the Google device Android One will receive the next update i.e. Android L (v5.0) ahead of any other manufacturer.

Speaking of memory, both the handsets come equipped with the same 4 GB of internal storage with microSD card support for expansion up to 32 GB.

Camera And Battery

Both the phones feature the same 5 MP primary camera unit. However, the Google handset has a LED flash housed in the rear, while there is no flash support in the Motorola device. Also, the Android One sports a 2 MP shooter in the front, whereas the Moto E does not come with a secondary unit. Furthermore, the Google device features a 1700 mAh battery, whereas the Moto E comes with a relatively better 1980 mAh battery unit.

Misc

Both the phones come equipped with dual-SIM capability.

Price

Google's Android handset is priced at INR 6,399 in India that roughly translates to as low as AU$116. The Moto E, on the other hand, is priced at AU$179.95.
