WWE: Seth Rollins Opens Up On Fighting Roman Reigns At Royal Rumble

Seth Rollins has opened up on his upcoming match against Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.

The Visionary Leader, Rollins and Reigns have a history going back to their early days in the company when they had debuted together as a part of The Shield. The fight at the 2022 edition of Royal Rumble will be the first time since Money in the Bank 2016 that the two wrestlers will face off against each other in singles action at a premium live event.

In a recent interview, Rollins described his upcoming fight with Reigns as "a WrestleMania main event caliber match."

"This is a WrestleMania main event caliber match, no question. I definitely think we’re going to kick WrestleMania season off the right way. It’s always going to be me and Roman. It’s always going to come down to me and Roman," Rollins said in an interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT.

The two-time champion, Reigns, defeated The Fiend Bray Wyatt to claim the Universal Championship at the WWE Payback on Aug. 30 last year. Earlier this month, when the length of Reigns’ title reign surpassed 503 days, he broke Brock Lesnar’s record to become the longest-reigning Universal Champion in the history of the title.

Rollins has defeated Reigns twice for a world title. At WrestleMania 31, he pinned his former Shield partner to capture his first WWE Championship. Rollins then reclaimed the title at Money in the Bank in 2016.

The two-time world champion, Rollins, is confident to repeat the history when he takes on Reigns at the Royal Rumble on Sunday.

"In many ways, we are the biggest two stars in WWE in this generation and I think fans have been clamoring for this match – especially where both of us are at in our career paths – and we didn’t think we were going to get it. But now, here we are and I’m looking forward to the electricity of the Rumble," added Rollins in the same interview.

Royal Rumble will take place at Missouri’s The Dome at America's Center. The other popular fight that is going to happen at the event is WWE Champion Brock Lesnar’s match against Bobby Lashley for the world title.
