Two struggling teams hesitantly go under the Monday Night Football spotlight, but both are raring to go at each other and finally start something positive in the 2013 NFL regular season.

The Minnesota Vikings featuring star running back Adrian Peterson travel to New York and the Giants, which is off their worst start since 1976 when they lost nine straight to open the year.

Peterson is one of the few bright spots for the Vikings, which have gone 1-4 so far this year despite the 28-year-old's best efforts.

Peterson still ranks 7th in the NFL in total rush yards (483) and has recorded 5 touchdowns on the ground (tied for 5th with most TDs in the league) but his team has struggled on many fronts: Minnesota is 21st in passing yards per game (222.0); 20th in giving up rushing yards (110.0 per game) and 30th in allowing passing yards (308.0 per game).

One good news for the Vikings going to their match-up against the Giants is that their opponents are equally worst in some of those categories: New York is 24th in giving up passing yards (268.0 per game); 27th in allowing rushing yards (123.3 per game); and looks bad with their own ground game too with just 67.8 rushing yards per game on the second worst in the NFL.

New York quarterback Eli Manning is struggling big-time through six games. The 32-year-old has more interceptions (15) than touchdowns (9) and has only a 53.7 completion rate (123 of 229).

Meanwhile, the Vikings will use 25-year-old QB Josh Freeman as the starter under center in this game. He was signed by Minnesota October 8 after he was released by Tampa Bay earlier in the month. Number one Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder is out due to rib injury and back-up Matt Cassel was ineffective in the last two games.
