UK Channel 4 is set to launch a new show called the Sex Box this coming fall. It is part of their Campaign for Real Sex and the show is set to feature real-life couples to be interviewed after having real sex inside a soundproof box within the studio. There won't be any images too since the box will be opaque.

Channel 4 has committed to not showing any actual sexual intercourse or even nudity that will be witnessed during the pre-recorded show. BBC further reports that the show is a part of the season for "real sex" which will feature effects of porn on British young people.

According to David Glover, its commissioning editor, the show intends to make sex be maintained as a private thing but to speak truthfully about it right after the act is done. The first set of couples who will engage in the show include childhood sweethearts who are engaged, 20s couple, plus a gay couple who are both in their 30s.

Mariella Frostrop will serve as the host of the show along with a panel of relationship experts, Medical Daily stated. "The sex we see on screen, in magazines and increasingly online bears little relation to the real experiences of real people," she said.

Ralph Lee, the head of the network's factual programming, mentioned that the Sex Box show aims to keep an open dialogue about sex which they feel has been presently overlooked by mainstream shows.

With such a controversial theme for a mainstream show, Sex Box comes with its own set of critics. Some think that the show's idea to focus on sex is just to hit high ratings fast. Up to this very day, it could not be helped for some to think that networks and other forms of media still believe in the thinking that "sex sells."

Campaign for Real Sex will start on Sept 30.
