Serie A giants Juventus are looking to acquire FC Barcelona defender Dani Alves, as they look to add quality to their squad, according to club Director General Giuseppe Marotta.

The Bianconeri have been dominant in the past three seasons domestically, winning three scudetti but was relatively ineffective in Europe given their stature as one of the most successful sides in the continent.

With his contract set to run out in June 2015, Alves might be in his final few months at the Nou Camp, as the Catalonia outfit will definitely look to cash in on the 31-year-old than let go of him for free, while his unusual omissions from match day lineups suggest that Barca are very much headed in the said direction.

While Marotta was non-committal on such rumoured move, he, nevertheless, admitted that the 79-capped Brazilian international will be a welcome addition.

"If there are players who can increase the quality of the squad, then we will consider them, but there's nothing to say that promise will be a guarantee," the 57-year-old told Tuttosport.

"It's not easy to find players worthy of Juve and we don't want to become some refuge for any old out of contract figure.

"Having said all that, Dani Alves is certainly a very good player."

Meanwhile, he was relieved that his side was able to hold on to their midfield stars in spite of interests shown by several continental rivals last summer.

"We didn't want to give Vidal to Manchester United, end of story. Besides, our rapport with his agent Fernando Felicevich is good," he added.

"As for Pogba, we have just renewed his contract. He was on very small wages and so we improved his salary."

"It always depends on the player - if Pogba and Vidal are happy to stay, then we will keep them."
