North American certification forum PTCRB certified new firmware builds for Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia M2, Xperia M2 Aqua and Xperia M2 Dual. Sony Xperia M2 models are expected to receive Android 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 KitKat based on the changes of build numbers on the certified firmware versions.

Sony Xperia M2, Xperia M2 Aqua And Xperia M2 Dual New Firmware Builds Certified By PTCRB

PTCRB posted new certified firmware builds for Sony Xperia M2, Xperia M2 Aqua and Xperia M2 Dual smartphones. Sony Xperia M2 D2303 and D2306 have been certified for 18.3.1.C.0.21 firmware build version along with Xperia M2 Aqua D2403 and D2406 variants in Nov. 18, 2014. It will upgrade these smartphones from 18.3.C.0.40 firmware version which was certified in Sept. 23, 2014.

D2305 model of the Sony Xperia M2 also received a new certification in Nov. 18 for 18.3.1.A.0.21 firmware build version which will upgrade the device from the previous 18.3.A.0.31 version while Sony Xperia M2 Dual D2302 and S50h are certified for 18.3.1.B.0.18 firmware build version by PTCRB last November 18 as an update for the previous 18.3.B.0.32 certified in Aug. 26, 2014. XperiaBlog claims that these models of Sony Xperia M2 are likely to have Android 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 KitKat based to the changes of build numbers featured on the certifications.

Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Certified For 23.0.1.A.4.30 Firmware Build Version

Last November 14, PTCRB certified the 23.0.1.A.4.30 firmware build version for Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact SGP621 and SGP641 variants. It will move these Xperia tablet models from the previous 23.0.1.A.0.167 certified in Oct. 2, 2014 but XperiaBlog claims that newly certified firmware build could be specific on network carriers rather than a global build version.

As of this time, official software version for Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is 23.0.1.A.0.167 according to the software support webpages from Sony Mobile on both variants running Android KitKat OS. Android 5.0 Lollipop includes the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact among eligible devices announced by Sony Mobile. However, there is no announcement yet regarding Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrades for mid-range smartphones such as Xperia M2.
