New leaked document revealed Sony's update roadmap from June to July for 2013 Xperia smartphones. It includes Xperia SP's Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Xperia C, Xperia L and Xperia T.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Xperia SP

Many users of the 2013 mid-range smartphone Xperia SP are asking if Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will happen this year. Vodafone Spain partially answered the inquiry from one user, revealing a firmware being developed by Sony Mobile.

However, an intriguing document leaked out unveiling the software update roadmap of the company from June and July 2014. Based on the image uploaded by JustAboutPhone, Sony Xperia SP is set to receive Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware starting from June until July while other 2013 smartphones such as Xperia C, Xperia L and Xperia T are scheduled for an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update within the same timeline.

Certain devices which were announced by Sony Mobile receiving Android 4.4.2 KitKat in Q2 2014 have been listed as well including Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia M2 and Xperia E1 set for June to July while other Xperia series members Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and Xperia ZR are scheduled for June 2014.

Leaked or Faked Document?

While it looks classified with notes of Sony Xperia Z2 waiting for Google's certification of Android 4.4.3 KitKat, documents are not difficult to fake. And in order to determine any truth about it, here are some details regarding Sony's upcoming firmware certified by PTCRB.

As revealed from the official Web pages of PTCRB and Sony Support, Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and Xperia ZR are likely getting Android 4.4.2 KitKat in June based on the significant change on the firmware build number.

However, other devices listed by PTCRB are more or less having the same firmware versions at Sony's official support site. Users will know more once PTCRB releases new firmware certifications from May to June.
