Samsung Galaxy S5: Sprint and Samsung Announce New Sport Smartphone Variant with Fit Live Fitness Apps
Sprint and Samsung recently announced the exclusive smartphone variant of the Samsung Galaxy S5. The U.S. carrier is set to offer Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport with the Sprint Fit Live fitness apps and a look similar to the combination of a Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active.
The GSMArena report claims the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport features physical Android front buttons resembling the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active but it has a new back cover design. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport may not have the military grade certification found on the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active but the new variant comes with the IP67 certification for dust and water resistance allowing the device to function underwater up to one meter deep and 30 minutes long.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport availability at Sprint will kick off on July 25, 2014. Interested consumers can get their hands on the new variant with $0 upfront payment followed with 24 monthly payments of $27.09 using the carrier's Easy Pay scheme.
Consumers can also place their pre-register on the new smartphone variant at Sprint's dedicated Web page. Those who purchased the Samsung Galaxy S5 will get a $50 off a Samsung Gear Fit wristband as well as 50% off on several headphones that can be used in listening to music will working out.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport is the first device to feature Sprint's Fit Live fitness apps. According to the Phandroid report, there will be MapMyFitness MVP access for 12 months featuring audio coaching, training plans and live tracking, Spotify Premium access depending on the Sprint plan that the customer will choose and Live the Healthy Lifestyle where contents on health and fitness will be sent.
When it comes to the device features and specs, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport has the same found on the Samsung Galaxy S5. The new Samsung variant comes with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED touch screen display with 1080 pixel resolution, a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2 GB of RAM, Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, 16 MP rear-facing camera, 2 MP front-facing camera.
The additional features and specs are the connectivity support for 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS, the heart rate monitor located at the back, 16 GB internal storage capacity that can be expanded through the available microSD card slot and the 2800 mAh battery.
