Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on Release Date to Come With Ultrasound S-Pen, Thinner Profile and Reasonable Price - Reports

The long-awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date is set to clash with iPhone 6 in September. Earlier reports pointed to a killer 64-bit processor, iris scanner, brilliant colour options, OIS in camera, curved OLED display option and many more. According to a recent report based on a patent filed in Korea by Samsung states that, upcoming Galaxy Note 4 will feature an ultrasound pen, thinner design and priced reasonably.

What is New?

The new patent in focus boots out the previously reported S-Pen digitizer (Stylus for Note 4) with umpteen sensors utilizing ultrasound technology called the "ultrasound s-pen." To be specific, three of the sensors are utilized to register 2-D data, while four other sensors register 3-D data inputs, says Phone Arena.

It is worth noting that, the concept of the "ultrasound s-pen" is not new in the tech world. Apparently, Qualcomm Snapdragon MDP 805 Tablet utilizes this technology. However, this tablet is predominantly used by developers.

The real advantage in using this technology is that, it costs lesser when compared to the digitizer, which brings in the possibility of a reasonable price for the monstrous Galaxy Note 4. However, according to earlier reports, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be priced under $800. It remains to be seen though if the usage of ultrasound in Note 4 could change the fate of the rumoured price.

In addition to the price, the usage of ultrasound instead of digitizer has a killer advantage. Apparently, it reduces the size of the device by nearly a millimetre. Thus, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be slimmer than the Galaxy Note 3, which comes with a thickness of 8.3 mm.

Phone Arena also points out that, with the release date slated for September, the usage of this new patent for Galaxy Note 4 is debatable at this point.

1. Superior Processor

AnTuTu benchmark testing revealed that Samsung could be releasing two different processing unit options for the upcoming Galaxy Note 4. This includes a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 805) Krait 450 processor and a Samsung Exynos 5433 8 Core processor. Interestingly, the Exynos processor outdid the powerful Snapdragon 805 in the same benchmark test. However, it remains to be seen though if the processor choices will be confined to selected regions. 2. Iris Scanner

Earlier this week, a Samsung official tweeted the following "Security can be improved using features unique to us (Samsung)." The tweet was accompanied by an image of a device supposedly Galaxy Note 4 with an eye and a scanner marker on the display. This corroborates the possibility of an iris scanner in the upcoming Galaxy Note 4, says BGR. In theory, unlocking the phone with the help of eye (iris) scanner technology makes the device even more secure.
