The 14-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal was not happy with Spain's female Davis Cup captain for stirring "false and absurd" debate about sexism. The alleged basis of the debate as started out by the female Davis Cup captain was when Nadal's coach and uncle allegedly questioned a woman's capacity to coach a men's game.

The false debate which spread like wildfire has definitely angered Nadal and this has struck out the Grand Slam winner at both captain Gala Leon and the Spanish tennis federation. What totally infuriated Nadal was the fact that the Spain's female Davis Cup captain enjoys a status that should have been used to promote harmony and unity between and among players. Inciting false debates is really uncalled for, not to mention, absurd.

If truth be told, while Jose Escanuela, federation President, was with the right authority and position to appoint Leon, it seemed unfair for him knowing that the issue was apparently shifted to become an issue of populism. During Leon's appointment as the first female Davis Cup captain on September, what truly was said by Nadal was not anything close to not wanting any female to handle coaching in a men's sport but rather, preferably someone with a background in the men's tennis world.

Leon's appointment has been praised by Andy Murray, and since then, Gala has been reportedly seen socializing with the other players and trying to get through the social and inner tennis federation circle. Leon has been meeting with other coaches and players except for Nadal. According to Nadal, there is nothing to ask forgiveness for because everything is constructive and professional.

Since Nadal's appendix was removed this month, he has not been seen on the court playing lately. This ruled him out of the ATP season-ending finals. Nevertheless, Nadal is going through his recuperation so well. In no time, the player will be back in no time, playing. In fact, after his successful appendectomy the world no. 3 has declared himself fit to compete at the Australian Open next month. He shared on his Facebook page, that he's been training with Frenchman Richard Gasquet and coach Sergi Bruguera for next year's first Grand Slam.
