Brooklyn Nets Center and future NBA hall of famer Kevin Garnett signified his intention to rejoin his former club - the Minnesota Timberwolves - but on a different capacity.

The Farragut Academy product, who skipped college and leapt to the pros in 1995, wants to become the owner of the struggling Western Conference side, or at least in part.

"I want to buy the Timberwolves," he said.

"I have ties there. Flip's there."

The 38-year-old inspired generations of enthusiasts and supporters during his spell in Minneapolis, helping the "small-market" Wolves to numerous playoff appearances that included a Conference Finals stint during his Most Valuable Player-winning season in 2004.

While he tops the all-time list of wages received in the course of a player's career, according to the Business Insider, he admitted that he can't rely on his fortunes alone to make the plan possible.

"Put a group together and perhaps someday try to buy the team. That's what I want," he added.
